LABRADORITE

LABRADORITE IS A FELSPAR COMPOSED OF CALCIUM SODIUM ALUMINUM SILICATE WHICH PRODUCES A COLOR DISPLAY ACROSS THE CLEAVAGE PLANES, CALLED LABRADORESCENCE. THE COLOR IS A REFRACTION OF LIGHT BOUNCING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE LAYERS. THE REFRACTION OF MANY LIGHT RAYS PRODUCE DIFFERENT WAVELENGTHS AND THEREFORE DIFFERENT COLORS COMING TO THE SURFACE. REDS, BLUES, GOLDS, SILVERS, AND MORE!.
