KEICHOUSAURUS HUI REPTILE FOSSIL #17

KEICHOUSAURUS VERY EARLY REPTILE FROM THE TRIASSIC AGE 240-210 MYA. IT IS KNOWN AS A PACHYPLEUROSAUR WHICH DWELLED IN WATER AND ON LAND. THEIR LEGS WERE PADDLE LIKE, BUT THE BONES WERE VERY LARGE WHICH INDICATED THEY SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON LAND OR IN SWAMPY AREAS. THE NECK IS VERY LONG, WITH A SMALL HEAD, WHICH HELPED IN FEEDING ON SMALL FISH AND INSECTS WHEN IN WATER OR ON LAND. THE LONG TAIL WAS USED WHEN SWIMMING AS WERE THE PADDLE SHAPED LEGS. THIS SPECIMEN IS FROM THE GUIZHOU PROVINCE IN CHINA. THIS IS A GREAT SPECIMEN AND THEY ARE GETTING HARDER TO FIND. THIS KEICHOUSAURUS IS 8 INCHES LONG, FROM HEAD TO TAIL. SPECIMEN SIZE IS 11 1/4 X 8 1/2 X 1/3 INCHES AND WEIGHS 3.48 POUNDS. SLATE BROKE ACROSS SPECIMEN AND WAS REPAIRED.  ALTHOUGH SOME REPAIR HAS BEEN DONE, THIS IS STILL A BEAUTIFUL FOSSIL DISPLAY FOR YOUR COLLECTION.
