PARTIAL WOOLLY MAMMOTH BABY TOOTH! IT IS A PART OF A MOLAR FROM THE MAMMUTHUS PRIMIGENIUS MAMMOTH AND WAS COLLECTED IN THE NORTH SEAS. THIS WOOLLY MAMMOTH TOOTH IS BETWEEN 20,000 AND 40,000 YEARS OLD. WOOLY MAMMOTH HAD FOUR FUNCTIONAL MOLAR TEETH AT A TIME. TWO IN THE UPPER JAW AND TWO IN THE LOWER JAW. DURING THEIR LIFETIME, THEY HAD 6 SETS, WHICH GOT PROGRESSIVELY LARGER WITH AGE. THE MAMMOTH WENT THRU 3 SETS BY THE TIME THEY WERE 6 YEARS OLD. ANOTHER SET 12-15 YEARS OF AGE AND ANOTHER ABOUT 15 YEARS LATER, WITH THE FINAL SET GROWING IN ABOUT THE AGE OF 45. MAMMOTHS LIVED TO AGES BETWEEN 60 AND 80 YEARS. AS THE LAST SET OF MOLARS WORE AWAY, THEY DIED DUE TO THE INABILITY TO EAT. THIS MOLAR IS FROM A WOOLLY MAMMOTH PROBABLY AROUND 6 YEARS OLD. IT WEIGHS 2.21 OUNCES AND IS 2 1/2 " L X 2 1/4" W X 1 " H.
